Lazy...and Drunk
Well tis been a while since I posted something up here. It's not that I've been overly busy or anything...it's just that I'm well...lazy...very lazy...even lazier now since I've managed to acquire the internet at home. I mean before if I wanted to use the net I'd at least have to get up, get changed and walk to the uni, forcing me to leave the house. Now...well...I just have to get up...roll over and I'm on the net already...heh...the internet...a blessing and a curse...
That's not to say I've become a complete otaku or anything (although I can't blame you if you thought that)...I've still been keeping up my weekly business of getting drunk with various people. Last Saturday was Ono's b'day...we all kinda got drunk then at Bishi Bashi - an izakaya thats relatively close to home. Got drunk but didn't go overboard...heh...I've learnt the art of self-control...sorta...didn't wake up with a hangover, which is always a good thing...
Tuesday night on the other hand...well...went out drinking (again...yes I know...that makes two times within a week...so much for self-control) with Brian and some guys from the ESS club (English Speaking Society). Despite the name of the club, almost all of its members....can't speak english!! If one wants to speak and improve their Japanese whilst at Sapporo university...one hangs out with the ESS...heh...anyway...back to the drinking on Tues night...originally we thought it was gonna be in Susukino...so we caught a bus to the city...then we found out it was gonna be around Nishioka...so we caught a bus back from the city. Anyway...it turns out the ESS already drank the previous night and Brian misinterpreted and thought that they were gonna drink again on Tues...most didn't...except for two guys who were still keen to drink...Suyoshi (aka..."Yarichin-kun"...hehe...see if you guys can figure out the meaning of that one) and another Japanese dude whose name I've forgotten.
Anyway...on to Bishi Bashi...where someway...somehow...I ended up in a drinking competition with Suyoshi. We order the "tabenomihoudai" (all you can eat and drink) deal which cost a total of 2800yen for 2hrs. Anyway...back to the drinking...the rules were...we had to drink anything Brian and the other ESS guy picked for us to drink. Points were awarded to the one who downs the drink 1st. 1st drink...500ml glass of beer...we skull it...I lose...2nd drink...whiskey shots...Brian joined in on this one...not sure who won this round...3rd drink...beer again...we both agreed to slow it down...but in the end...I won this round. So the score is 1 all. 4th round...back to the whiskey shots. This time, all joined in. Not sure who won this one either...5th round...plum wine. Skulled those...I won that round.
Next...they order red wine for us...but I declared that I didn't feel like throwing up that night...and still wanted to be able to walk straight...so I pretty much stopped there (self-control...see??). Suyoshi however looked like he could still go on for the rest of the night. Beaten by a Japanese in a drinking game...what can I say??...definitely one of the strongest Japanese drinkers that I've met so far...Around this point, we were joined by another member of the ESS...a girl...can't remember her name...and the rest of the night was all of us jus sitting around talking...Brian and I speaking only in Japanese...whilst the ESS members speaking in only English. A fair trade methinks...
By the way...did I mention that I had class the next morning at 9am??...well I did...and I skipped it...what can I say??..didn't feel like going to class with the killer hang-over that I had. And besides...it was only Watanabe-sensei's Japanese class...no big deal.
